UV Radiation Protection: Markilux fabrics in dark colors afford 100% UV protection. The lighter colors (up to plain white) stop up to 97% of UV rays, providing UV SPF protection of 50+. These figures are based on research conducted by the Hohenstein Research Institute. All Markilux awning covers achieve the highest possible sun protection factor for textiles (UV SPF 50+).
Color Fastness: Markilux awning fabrics meet color and light-fastness in accordance with ISO 105/B02 for plain fabrics and stripes achieving values of 7 or 8 on a scale of 8. This means they fade less than 1% per year.
Weatherproof: Markilux awning fabrics are weatherproofed in accordance with ISO 105/B04 for plain fabrics and stripes achieving values of 7 to 8 on a scale of 8. This means that the fabrics are resistant to rain during a short, light shower with good care and a pitch angle of at least 14º. Our awning fabrics are waterproof and resistant to dirt, grease, and other environmental influences.
Ultrasonic Fabric Bonding & Laser Cutting: Exclusive to Markilux, with over $1 million invested in each high-tech laser cutter and ultrasonic bonding machine, this process has resulted in stronger seams that fray less, last longer, look better, and stand up to the special demands of motorized retractable awnings and exterior solar screens.

Sunsilk Nano-Clean Awning Fabrics
Sunsilk SNC (Sunsilk Nano Clean) is a milestone in awning fabric development, the result of years of Markilux R&D. This silky, high-tech, polyester-based awning covering provides a self-cleaning finish that enables the fabric cover to permanently repel dirt, grease, oil and water, which insures its long life.

Sunsilk fabric provides superior color brilliance with a high degree of color-fastness. It bathes your patio or deck in a warm, soothing light and a luminous shade - almost like sitting under a large silk drape.

Sunsilk fibers are smaller than those used in traditional acrylic fabrics, so its low winding circumference reduces creasing or puckering. Sunsilk SNC can be utilized for any type of awning, canopy or exterior solar shade.

Perfotex is a special fabric is made from spun-dyed acrylic to offer the highest possible light and weather resistant values. This light and air-permeable fabric is woven using a special technique that leaves it pleasantly transparent and reduces the possibility of water troughs forming, which can put extra strain on the cover.
